Safety is the dream. Nightmare is the reality. A nightmare where danger lurks around every corner.
Welcome to the New World Disorder
Jack Walker, journeyed half way around the world and completed his daring rescue. He must now return home, traversing a world filled with endless hordes of night runners; the genetically altered, ferocious species that now inhabit the dark recesses left over from the demise of mankind and now dominate the planet. The only things more dominate are the billions of corpses left to rot where they died. It is through this world that Jack must use his special forces training to lead a small group of survivors back home to where there is the faint hope of sanctuary.
His training is pushed to the limits as he is confronted with situation after situation coming face to face with the night runners.
Grave New World | Yale University Press
He must walk that delicate, fine edge between action and keeping his kids out of harm's way; between taking risks and turning away as he continues his quest for survival. Never having walked away from risky situations, Jack must now carefully weigh his decisions as the stakes are much higher. His kids' very safety hangs in the balance, along with the safety of the few remaining survivors.
This gripping, action-packed tale tells Jack's story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world filled with peril. Those who have survived remember a time when the dream was the reality. But now, the world has moved on.

Verified Purchase. Jack has done what he said he would in case the worst happened. He has flown across the ocean to rescue Lynn and brought back with him the soldiers under his command. Along the way he's picked up more survivors and they all seem to recognize that he is the best one to lead them.
While he does not want the lead he is willing to do the best he can, but as with any true leader, he asks those around him, knowing no one man can do it all. Returning home, he now has to find a place of safety against the Nightrunners. First book was great, this one followed right behind it. September 24, - Published on Amazon. After reading the first book, A New World: Chaos, I was left wondering what would happen after the main character rescued his girlfriend, a soldier in the Middle East.
This book gave me the answers and more.
I loved how the author developed the interpersonal relationships that he started in the first novel. I feel as though I am starting to really know the people and understand how they think.

This series is different than other ZA books, in that the main character is a former AF pilot, and that he directly involves his pre-teen and teenage children in the operation and defense of their survival plan. They are a rage-type zombie, so brace yourselves, Romero purists. Plenty of action balanced with real-life downtime in which the characters banter in a believable way. For the next book, I hope we get more development of the characters, especially the kids and other soldiers, and new twist on the survival plan after landing. I hope the author keeps the same format, with little glimpses into the mind and life of the night runners, plenty of scary tension, and bouncing back and forth between separate POV's of the same chunk of time.
Definitely well worth the money, but strongly suggest new readers go back and read the first installment before this one. O'Brien, I know you're probably taking a break after writing this one, but I hope you get back to work soon on the next book! September 12, - Published on Amazon. I'm on book 10 now, but this is still in the 2 star range for me.
New World Sound return after massive hiatus with new single “Melt”
Now, when I read reviews before purchasing a book, especially by a "new", to me , author, I never read 4 and 5 stars and rarely read 1 star reviews. Personally, there has been maybe 1 or 2 times when I've just given a 1 star review Ok, if they would let me review a book using 0 stars, those would be the books IMHO, that takes a real author, who is working at improving their work to do that.
I still stumbled to read because of the punctuation of this book. The only things more dominate are the billions of corpses left to rot where they died.
